There are 3.3 million NGOs registered in India or one NGO for every 400 Indian citizens. In 2020, GuideStar India (GSI) had more than 10,000 verified NGOs and more than 1,600 certified NGOs on its portal. Their work spans a wide spectrum from education, health, advocacy, and media, to innovation, technology and livelihoods. A wide diversity of roles are offered by the sector with the opportunity to grow beyond the tried and tested.

53% of India’s population is below 29 years. A sustainable and just future is possible only if the young actively engage with the vast development sector. For passionate young people, this is the time to explore a career journey with meaning, make an impact and be a part of the nation’s growth story.

The Village Square Youth Hub and Indian School of Development Management (ISDM) are bringing the Development Unplugged Series which will bring together impact-makers and trailblazers from the development sector. They will talk about opportunities in the sector, fulfilling roles in HR, Technology, Finance, Marketing, Analytics, and Management. There will be a lively discussion, networking with like-minded peers, learning, and fun.

Development Deconstructed-  A Masterclass

What is the development sector? Why is it so crucial to the country’s development? Diversity of roles that the sector offers in a diversity of domains. What career opportunities does it offer? What are career arcs that one can expect from the sector?

What are the skills sets and competencies needed to work in the sector. Where to begin your journey?

These questions would be answered in the Masterclass by the industry’s leading specialists.

Changemakers Panel Discussion:

Prodigious young changemakers will share stories about their endeavours and challenges. They will discuss the joys, hardships, and opportunities. Motivations, passions and commitments of young development changemakers.

This will be followed by an open house for freewheeling discussion with the panellists.

About ISDM

ISDM is an institution founded to create, strengthen and establish Development Management, a domain that transcends the exclusive silos of ‘development perspectives’ and ‘management principles. ISDM recognizes the need to ‘professionalize’ the Leading and Managing of Social Purpose Organisations (SPOs). The institution sees the development space as requiring the application of management disciplines that are unique and tailored to the scale of the sector. Management that doesn’t merely retrofit Business Management to development projects, but one that is born specifically from the coming together of the two crucial domains.
